(To our summer foods!) It's National Pickle Week. Although many BBQ’s have been fired up long before this, the season is coming into its own. Warm weather will encourage the cooking of different meats for the family meal on the BBQ. Although there are favorite meats, some items simply go with hamburgers, wieners or brats. One of these items is pickles. Pickles also just go with a sandwich or other foods whether from the BBQ, restaurant, fast food, or at home.
There are thousands of varieties of cucumber pickles throughout the world. In the United States alone, more than 2.5 billion pounds of pickles are consumed; with dills being the most popular. They are also used as appetizers, in side dishes, or snacks.
